About Us
If you appreciate the classic designs of British automobiles you won’t want to miss the largest gathering of these fine cars in the southeast. Approximately five hundred examples of these machines and about 5,000 spectators will converge at Berry College in Rome, Georgia for what has become one of the best automotive events of the year. Every major example of British car is usually well represented from the elegant Rolls-Royce to the rugged Land Rover. See hundreds of examples of all of the great marques that defined sports cars for several generations; the MG, Austin Healey, Lotus, triumph, Morgan, Jaguar, Sunbeam, Jensen, Aston Martin, TVR and those flying shoeboxes, the Mini-Cooper.
It’s always fun to look for the little known makes that some owners bring up to exhibit. The nice thing about this event is that the cars aren’t all expected to be immaculate – We appreciate those “Diamonds in the Rough” as well. Organizers would like to encourage everyone to drag their old British Iron (or aluminum) out of the barn and come join the fun. Spectators are welcome and admitted free.
This year we decided to let all of the British cars and bikes of of silver be the "Featured Marque". Each club will send one vehicle to the center of the circle to represent their marque specialty if your car is one of the original 16 BMCD entrants.
British Motorcar Day is an annual gathering of all of the British Car Clubs in the Atlanta, Georgia region. The event is now in its twenty fourth year from its beginnings with sixteen cars in Grant Park in 1983. The show quickly outgrew the Grant Park venue and was invited to move to Chateau Elan in 1985 where it stayed until 2005 and grew to include over 500 cars.
Once again the show outgrew the available space and the organizers of the show wanted to find a venue that was as scenic as the Chateau. We have found such a place at Berry College. With a backdrop of an English style castle (instead of a French Chateau) and a single large open field in which we can display all of the cars we think that the participants will really enjoy this new site for the show. The Berry College campus is a beautiful preserve just on the northern outskirts of Rome, Georgia. The distance to the event from the intersection of I-285 and GA 400 has only increased by ten miles from our previous venue. Please come out for the new beginning of one of Atlanta's spring rites - the British Motorcar Day show in early May.
British Motorcar Day provides a chance for car enthusiasts to gather in a beautiful setting and admire the unique characteristics of the many distinctive automobiles that have originated in Britain. Since this is a social event and is not a judged show, the organizers encourage all owners of British cars to participate; you do not have to be a club member to bring your British car.
Spectators are also welcome and admitted free!
This event is held rain or shine so don't let a cloudy sky keep you from joining in the fun. On the rare occasions that we have had a rain shower in the past, it has blown over quickly and we've still had a great time. Remember that a little rain never hurt an English car (it may however cause it to stop running temporarily!). So keep a stiff upper lip, bring the brolly and the wellys and a can of WD40 and join us at the largest British car event in the southeast.
